Ramadan 2018: Insist on Kindness

ABOUT ABOUT

Sonoma County: join us for a day devoted to kindness –– a kind of “kindness lab.” Volunteer with us at St. Vincent’s or do a project of your own.

Consider fasting from dawn to dark (or however much you can manage) in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors and to experience this transformative practice. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is meant to bring us to an awareness of our spiritual selves. This is complemented by prayer or contemplation and engaging in good deeds.

We will meet at 10:30am at St. Vincent's in Santa Rosa, 610 Wilson Street in the Railroad Square neighborhood. There we will help to serve lunch and help clean up until around 2pm. If we have more volunteers than slots, some of us may will help in their Thrift Shop, 5671 Redwood in Rohnert Park. This is not glamorous work, but it is important, and a different way to be of service.

At 8:30 in the evening we will reconvene to break fast with a festive meal (self-pay) at King Falafel, 100 Brown Street in Sebastopol.

Find out more details by searching on “Insist on Kindness” on Facebook and going to the event page. If you have volunteer opportunities to offer, please let us know! On the day, you can reflect there in real time or by using hashtag #insistonkindness.

Your using this site to RSVP is important so that we can tell St. Vincent's and King Falafel how many people to expect. Thank you for using this ticket mechanism to RSVP!
